American WW2 invasion of Okinawa (Operation Iceberg)
Okinawa 1945 is a turn based strategy board game which takes place on the Pacific Theater during the Second World War. From Joni Nuutinen: by a wargamer for the wargamers since 2011April 1945: You are in command of the American force invading the island of Okinawa held by the Imperial Japanese Army. Called Operation Iceberg, it was one of the major battles of the Pacific War and the largest amphibious assault in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The object of the game is to completely conquer this large island as quickly as possible in the middle of Japanese Kamikaze attacks against your warships. Japan hoped to make the battle for Okinawa so costly to the American forces that they would not launch an offensive against the Japanese home islands. The Okinawa campaign has been referred as Typhoon of Steel and Violent Wind of Steel because of to the fierceness of the fighting, the intensity of Japanese kamikaze attacks, and the numbers of Allied ships and armored vehicles.FEATURES:+ Historical accuracy: Campaign mirrors the historical setup of the Operation Iceberg.+ Long-lasting: Thanks to in-built variation and the games smart AI technology, each game provides a unique war gaming experience.+ Competitive: Measure your strategy game skills against others fighting for the Hall of Fame top spots.+ Supports casual play: Easy to pick up, leave off, continue later.+ Challenging: Crush your enemy quickly and earn the bragging rights on the forum.+ Good AI: Instead of just attacking on direct line towards the target, the AI opponent balances between strategic goals and smaller tasks like encircling nearby units.+ Settings: Various options are available to alter the look of the gaming experience: Change difficulty level, hexagon size, Animation speed, choose icon set for units (NATO or REAL) and cities (Round, Shield, Square, block of houses), decide what is drawn on the map, and much more.In order to be a victorious general in this strategy game, you must learn to coordinate your attacks in two ways. First, as adjacent units give support to an attacking unit, keep your units in groups in order to gain local superiority. Secondly, it is rarely the best idea to use brute force when it is possible to encircle the enemy and cut off its supply lines instead.Join your fellow strategy gamers in changing the course of the Second World War!Privacy Policy (full text on website and app menu): No account creation is possible, the made-up username used in the Hall of Fame listings is not tied to any account and does not have password. The campaigns are based on the time-tested gaming mechanics TBS (turn-based strategy) enthusiasts are familiar with from both the classic PC war games and legendary tabletop board games. I want to thank the fans for all the well thought-out suggestions over the years which have allowed these campaigns to improve at a much higher rate than what any solo indie developer could dream of. If you have advice on how to improve this board game series please use email, this way we can have a constructive back and forth chat without the limits of the stores comment system. In addition, because I have huge number of projects on multiple stores, it’s just not sensible to spend handful of hours each day going through hundreds of pages spread all over the Internet to see if there is a question somewhere -- just send me an email and I will get back to you. Thanks for understanding!+ Assigning replacements (+1 HP) to a unit is a bit easier (3 adjacent enemy hexagons allowed, but the severity of enemy-blocks-replacements depends on the Difficulty Level+ War Status includes list of currently requested resources+ HOF relocated to web (see dev-log for details)+ AI artillery might escape capture (happens less often than Generals escape)+ AI: Improvements in front line coherence
Another fantastic game! It captures all the excitement of the old board games but at much faster pace.
Every game Joni creates is golden. For those of who played the old board games of Avalon Hill and SPI these games will not disappoint. The AI is second to none. I enjoy playing most battles at Ultra Hard.
All of Joni's games are good and many great. I have purchased more than 10 in the series so far and enjoy all of them. He is very open to feedback and turns around updates very quickly. I sent him an email with a bug and a suggestion for an icon change. Both are in a point release within 72 hours! And he explained the bug that I reported that wasn't within a day, taking the time to explain the game mechanics in the particular circumstances. Don't complain they are hard! They are meant to be.
Brilliant
Played the free version and got hooked. Great game to pass a few mins or hours. Support this dev!
This is a great game. I haven't seen you do everything with Vietnam like Hamburger Hill?
Great game. When I looked back at the history of the battle, it was crazy how closely my attack mirrored the real ones in 1945. A testimony to the game creator for his troop placements.
Probably Joni Nuutinen most under rated/underappricated game more strategy where to allocate units what cities to concentration on. Didnt think id ever finish it made hof tho!! Keep some ships near shore.
Great Game. As always these games are just a little bit special. I love the addition of the maritime element. Keep em coming Joni.
Nice to move into naval areas. Really fun to play. Thanks once again!
